Canadian Firearms Safety Course
(CFSC)

This introductory firearms course covers a wide range of topics including:

​

  • evolution of firearms, major parts, types and actions

  • basic firearms safety practices

  • ammunition

  • operating firearm actions

  • safe handling and carry procedures

  • firing techniques and procedures

  • care of non-restricted firearms

  • responsibilities of the firearms owner/user

  • safe storage, display, transportation and handling of non-restricted firearms

Children age 12 to 17 can take the CFSC and apply for a Minor's License. Children under the age of 12 can attend the course for educational purposes but will NOT be tested.

You must bring a government issued ID with you to the course in order to verify your identity. The ID type and number will be recorded on your course paperwork.

 

You must successfully pass a practical and written test. The passing grade that must be achieved is a minimum of 80%. If you fail you will have an opportunity to retake the test after one day has passed. If more then seven days pass before you are able to retake the test you will be required to redo the course.

Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC)

This course is a introductory course into the responsible use of restricted Firearms. It covers similar topics to the CFSC; focusing on handgun actions and restricted firearm policies. Topics include the following:

​

  • evolution of firearms, major parts, types and actions

  • basic firearms safety practices

  • ammunition

  • operating handgun actions

  • firing techniques and procedures for handguns

  • care of restricted firearms

  • responsibilities of the firearms owner/user

  • safe storage, display, transportation and handling of restricted firearms

 

The CRFSC age restriction is 18+.
